National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-police collaborative event that is held nationwide and has the following objectives:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Millions of  people are involved in this event in the U.S. and Canada every year. This year, Bay-O-Vista residents held several neighborhood parties/gatherings, and we enjoyed visits by the mayor, several Police Officers and Fire Fighters.

The goal of National Night Out is to create neighborhood energy, to develop neighborhood relationships and send a clear and powerful message to criminals...STAY AWAY FROM BAY-O-VISTA.

Strengthening our neighborhood and strengthening personal relationships are recurring themes for BOVIA.  Consider volunteering as a coordinator for this annual effort...for a very rewarding experience to improve our community. If you are interested, please contact the BOVIA Director for Neighborhood Security so we can register for support from the national organization in planning and holding these events.  And BOVIA will underwrite $50 for these events, no receipts necessary.
